Just few years back there were lots of piracy hanging on here and there throughout all over the Internet and all of those were possible majorly through sites like Torrent.
But what happened to Torrent now??
Who’s the founder of torrent and how he invented torrent?
Where does all of these torrent things suddenly vanished off?
Today in this article, we’d discuss all of these things.
What happened to Torrent now??
You may have noticed that, with very high demand of live streaming companies such as Amazon Prime, Netflix, Disney+Hotstar, or even Hulu etc… covering the audience from all over the World (Internet Population) have resulted into the downfall of companies like Torrent. The biggest reason for this is the simplicity of these apps and their affordable prices. These companies and their applications brought a significant reduction in the piracy from past several years.
But nonetheless, people who are still engaged in the pirated content there’s no any doubt that Torrent is still the best option for them so far. Because Torrent is that exact key that opens all of the doors of the pirated content.
For those who do not know what Torrenting is, let me explain it quickly
Torrenting is basically a file distribution or sharing system through which people from all around the World can upload their files and at the same time people from other corner of the World can download them, that is instead of downloading a file from the main server, with torrent one can download the file from thousands of other people who have already downloaded the file themselves. Torrent gave the power to the people to use the almost each content over the Internet for free.
So piracy sites like Pirate Bay and KisckAss Torrents do not have to actually host the entire file, instead they just have to the torrent link (whether a tracker or a magnet link) that connects to the pirates from all around the World.
This system is what made it extremely difficult to shut down piracy. So even if some prosecutors shuts down a certain website the owners of that website can can link to a new site which is no more than a few gigabytes (as they only contains torrent links and not the whole content). This ease of moving websites had made it impossible to shut down the large torrent websites like the Pirate.
Who’s the founder of torrent and how he invented torrent:
The above are the reason why the copyright holders were not a fan of Bram Cohen (The founder of torrent).
Bram Cohen : A man who invented the soul of the piracy, he’s also famously known as the King of the torrent.
Bram Cohem’s father was a computer scientist and you may get into shock if I tell you that Bram was learning the programming languages when he was just at the age of 5 and let’s not forget that it was 1980. Back in 1980 the average person didn’t even know that why he needs a computer in his life.
Bram was not like every other kid, he didn’t remain depended on the stack of the degrees over degrees instead he joined the University of Buffalo that landed him into the many job offers. One of the many last companies where he worked was MojoNation.
MojoNation was a company who was working on the concept of distributing files across the different computers and then re-arrange them to get them into their destination. In this way even if an hacker hacks one computer then he couldn’t have the whole file.
This concept resulted into an amazing idea of file sharing inside Bram’s mind and then he wanted to present his idea to the World and over few years he worked on it and programmed bitTorrent client which ran on Python and as he completed the beta version of his software which worked perfectly right.
Right after he built his software and it was the time for marketing and then he went ahead with his few friends and they hosted a very famous tech conference known as CodeCon. But unfortunately it didn’t worked as expected so now Bram went ahead to the adult industry and offered them it for free and this idea really worked well but Bram didn’t wanted to be known as the Adult industry promotor so after a point of time he stopped seeding these films but until now people had started to know the power of Torrent and they themselves started using it as a file distribution system across all over the internet.
Where does all of these torrent things suddenly vanished off?
As the copyright holders and the prosecuters couldn’t do much about shutting down the torrenting websites so they started catching seeders through their IP addresses and started taking legal actions against them, following this so many seeders then started using VPNs to hide their privacy but the Proper VPNs are also costly at their place so most of the seeders got caught and piracy started slowing down. In the same way they arrested some other torrenting sites owners and put them behind the bars and legal actions were taken against them.
But Bram always stayed in the against of the pirated contents so he was never in the trouble.
